THE FILM MAKERS
GOLGOTHA, AR. is the first joint
project for Joel T. Kattner and Nachash ha-Rames. Both young
men have produced, written and performed for many years,
seperately in a variety
of amatuer films, stage productions, access television shows,
renaissance fairs and the like. There are also a number of
similarities in their early film and video experiences. Both
had an early fascination with horror films and special
effects, especially the work of Sam Raimi, Tobe Hooper and
the Coen Brothers. This was echoed in their earliest
experiments (ie Kattner's DARK DAY OF THE PUMPKIN.)Then later
discovering the beauty of Minimalist/Absurdist Cinema and Art
(a la Jarmusch and Lynch) both Kattner and ha-Rames began to
explore areas of more cerebral cinema and theater,
respectively. All of these early influeces and experiments
formed the basic seeds from which a post modern southern
gothic art house zombie flick would someday be bred into
existence.
Although this duo have only been
associated for a short time, their combined experiences,
talent and cinematic vision formed a dense and fascinating
mixture in GOLGOTHA, AR.
