FROM THE DIRECTOR:
News and Information from Joel T. Kattner

          JANUARY 2007

ALMOST an entire year has come and gone... 2007 finds us once again up in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, putting the finishing touches on our latest project: the musical collection "SINNIN' IN THE RAIN" by your's truly, J.T. KATTNER. The cd/download is available for purchace from www.lulu.com.
A lot has come and gone since the last updates to the website. The script for "Q" has been placed on the back burner while several new projects are slowing appearing on the horizon.  Now that the CD has been finished and the relocation to Arkansas has come to pass, it is time to GET TO WORK. A dear friend has said for years, that for an artist, it's "all about the work!" Anyone can talk. We all have the ability to espouse and blather about our "art" and "ideas" and "meaning" but it all means         nothing without actually doing THE WORK.
Which brings me to my current locale (both physically and artistically.) A forthcoming project is in the infancy stages, but should prove to be very exciting and unique! I can not say much about the project at this time, save for these remarks: The story is about Television and the People that both work and appear in the media. Using the backdrop of a television news station, we will see into a world that mirrors our own - showing us a reflection of who we are that may or may not be anywhere close to the truth. What is Truth? What is Reality? Can we ever learn what these things are through the dark glass of the t.v.         screen? This is what we shall explore. The project will be realized working with the fine folks at COMMUNITY ACCESS TELEVISION (CAT CHANNEL 18) in         Fayetteville, Arkansas. For anyone interested in becoming involved at any level with this forthcoming effort, please contact me at jtkattner@darkpumpkinpictures.com

Watch this space for further information in the coming months! And keep those cards 'n letters comin'!

Well into the new year... still working on trying to get Q off the ground. Recently purchased a brand new PANASONIC DVX100 and intend to start putting it to use shortly! Most recently have been delving into singing and playing again! Recording a bunch of my old songs again using the Garageband software on the Macintosh. I think its working out pretty well! Feel free to listen and comment on the songs posted here. I have become a regular among the song crafters at www.icompositions.com - a great online community of some insanely talented folks. Check out everyone's music and comment and chat and trade and make your own. What a great way to use this information super thingy...

I think this internet stuff might be catching on!

Well Halloween has passed and we are in the final stretch of the year 2005! It's been a weird, exciting, busy and sometimes bumpy road for all of us here. Hurricane Wilma tore through southwest Florida last week making matchsticks of every tree and flowering plant for 100's of miles in every direction. Luckily, the power and water has been restored and we are starting to get back to "Normal" (whatever that may be!) Our little zombie flick, GOLGOTHA, AR. continues to make its way out to the adoring fans everywhere! Jebediah Buzzard (arkansas' ONLY cable tv horror host) premiered the NEW dvd version on Halloween in Fayetteville Ar. We are still waiting to see what repurcussions (or cease and desist notices) come out of this showing! In Texas, Horror Host extraordinaire, PROF. GRIFFIN (Joseph Fotinos) will be hosting GOLGOTHA AR. later this month on his very own MIDNIGHT SHADOW SHOW (which airs friday nights at 11pm central time on Time Warner cable ch. 16 in Austin Tx.) The Professor's enthusiasm and support has been extremely inspirational! His show has been picked up by the forthcoming FANGORIA TV and will soon be seen Nationwide. Hopefully his ties to our little zombie flick won't impede that deal in anyway! Thanks again Joe for your support!

The new dvd of GOLGOTHA, AR. is available for shipping and can be purchased through PAYPAL on this site as well as on eBay! Or you can just drop me an email and we can make arrangements to have a disk sent out to you right away!

The script for "Q" is in the final draft stages and will hopefully begin shooting VERY SOON. I hope to have the principle shooting completed around Christmas so that we can have a finished product available sometime close to Valentine's Day. This project promises to be a lot of fun and will hopefully be making its way to Cable channels and Film Festivals in the early part of 2006!

All in all, things are moving along very well for Dark Pumpkin Pictures. The website achieved over 4000 hits in October and we hope to double that in November.  Keep watching our site for new clips, news and updates in the coming weeks...
and keep those cards and letters coming!

THE GOLGOTHA DVDS ARE FINISHED AND READY FOR SHIPPING!

The DVD covers arrived from the printers today and look fantastic! DVD's can be ordered using PAYPAL on our homepage.

Upon the relaunch of the DP website, I was contacted by a free lance graphic artist (and super nice guy!) in Seattle Wa. named Jeffrey Jenkins. He volunteered to assist us by providing some original artwork designs. He donated his time and talent to making a truly professional and beautiful DVD cover for the new GOLGOTHA release. Jeff's work has really put the finishing touches on our project and I can not thank him enough for his work!

The website is growing all the time as we are averaging about 300 hits per day and getting some nice exposure on the web. I have been in contact with a number of Horror Movie websites and online databases, getting GOLGOTHA listed along side other classic scary movies. Also making friends in the Horror Host community to get the new and improved version of GOLGOTHA playing around the US on various cable television outlets (watch this site for details as they come in.) Co-Creator of GOLGOTHA. AR. Nachash ha-Rames will be hosting our movie on his very own JEBEDIAH BUZZARD'S FRIGHT TIME FUNHOUSE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. His show originates from the CAT channel 18 in Fayetteville Arkansas, but airs throughout the country on numerous cable access outlets. This will be a great opportunity to get our little zombie flick out to a lot of horror movie and indie fans around the US. FANGORIA magazine has launched their own cable network called FANGORIA TV... I have been chatting with a super nice horror host from Austin Texas, named Professor Anton Griffin, who's own MIDNIGHT SHADOW SHOW airs on FANGO TV. He has offered to host a showing of GOLGOTHA with his own unique carnival sideshow whizbang ballyhoo. Professor Griffin is a very enthusiastic supporter of Horror Movies and all things creepy and fun. I am looking forward to working with him and sharing some mutual good vibes and cross-promotion. I am also in contact with numerous others who have expressed interest in viewing and presenting GOLGOTHA in their own venues. Watch this space for more information!

So things are rolling right along with the GOLGOTHA DVD. Please drop me a line anytime for any reason and let me know what you think of our little hillbilly zombie flick. We look forward to hearing from you!

GREETINGS, from Joel T. Kattner (proprietor, webmaster, producer, director, writer) of Dark Pumpkin Pictures. It's been far too long since this site has been active. I am doing what I can to correct this and bring life back into this dark little black and red corner of the net.

4 and a half years ago, I teamed up with some fabulously talented folks in Fayetteville Arkansas and created a little post modern black and white zombie flick we called GOLGOTHA AR. The movie was made with intentions of being premiered at the 2001 Fayetteville Film Festival... (you can read details of the
production, music, etc here)

Due to redtape and bad luck the movie never showed at that year's festival, but did go on to run endlessly for many months on the CAT channel in Fayetteville, Ar. At that time, I launched this site to help promote the movie and any future projects, as well as give me a personal space to rant and rave or show off my wares in some kind of public way. The website at that time gained a surprisingly large audience and I made some good connections, which I ashamedly failed to pursue in earnest... the movie and the website eventually lost steam and I personally became caught up in more pertinent issues in my life (career, family, health, etc.)

Now, 4 years later, I find myself sitting here in Naples Florida at 4 o'clock in the morning sipping spicy ginger tea and plunking away at this brand spankin' new Macintosh Dual G5, staring into the 20 inch flatscreen while my fiancee' snores gently in the bed behind me.

I have been working diligently the past 2 weeks, learning software, dubbing video and music, re-learning html and rebuilding this website. While also re-editing GOLGOTHA AR. into the DIRECTOR'S CUT version I always intended to make and release. As of this writing, the brand new, deluxe edition, widescreen, hi-fidelity, DVD of GOLGOTHA AR. is about 99% complete. In the next week or so, you will find information on how to obtain copies of this new DVD as well as images, videos, writings and music related to the movie.  I hope to rebuild my earlier ignored connections, both online and off. It would be fabulous if we can get GOLGOTHA back out there into the public consciousness... ie film festivals, websites, community television, etc.

IF YOU HAVE ANY INTEREST AT ALL IN THIS MOVIE OR ANY OTHER PROJECTS PLEASE CONTACT ME AT MY EMAIL LISTED BELOW.

Halloween is quickly approaching. What better time than now to get things rolling? With any luck at all, GOLGOTHA AR. can be revived like the zombies themselves... reanimated like a Lovecraftian nightmare to begin roaming the moss-covered trails and dark, misty hills and hollers of my little world....

... even if I do live 5 miles from the beach!

More to come!
